This is very minimalistic e-commerce site, this main purpose is to explain store internals design and show the potential. Most of e-commerce stores we build are  more complex then this site.

We don't try to invent much of new or uncommon features with this product - instead we are trying to bring all well known and common features. Ideally, anyone should be able to install djWarehouse, easily add or import store products, and open e-commerce site in matter of hours.

We do understand that there are no silver bullets - we can not satisfy all customer requirements, just some common. Our limitations are following: the internal design of database, and objects normally should work good with stores from 100 to 10000 products, while of course your mileage may vary.

History of this product

While we offer a wide range of software development services, from MySQL/PHP to Python/Django/Zope development, we do understand that to offer something really amazing we should concentrate our efforts on building a single, but excellent product. Since we already built a dozen of e-commerce stores during our work, we have chosen to build another one.

We have started working on djWarehouse in the beginning of 2007. Why not used any other open source product, like OsCommerce or something else? OK, because most of them did not satisfied our requirements on easiness of installation, code maintenance and deployment. We have made an investigations, tried many of current e-commerces stores, and we did not found any which matches our expectations of quality, speed and robustness

We found that most of e-commerce stores (at least in 2007) had some design flaws, in one or other meaning. In most of cases this means that some store can be easy to install, but very difficult to support. Some could became very slow when you add 1000 products and customers start shopping. We tried to avoid common design mistakes, and since this is second e-commerce product we've build on our own, we ended up with excellent product for many purposes (we think so).
